Fatimah Gifford, MAODC

Executive Director

Fatimah Gifford (she/her) is a committed advocate who brings nearly 25 years of extensive experience to her leadership role at Provide, and to the reproductive health, rights, and justice movement at large. She has served as the Executive Director of Provide since 2019.

As the former VP of Marketing and Communications at Whole Woman’s Health, Fatimah has been front and center in the culture wars and fight to eradicate stigma in Texas and beyond since 2013. She played an integral part in developing a national communications strategy around the June 2016 landmark Supreme Court win Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which overturned HB2 and restored safe abortion access to Texas communities. In that time, she fielded hundreds of national and local media calls from major outlets including NPR, MSNBC, Associated Press, Ebony, HBO, Showtime, TBS, and the New York Times. For her efforts and tireless work, Fatimah was named the Person of the Year by the Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity.

Prior to joining Provide, Fatimah briefly led the communications work at URGE: Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity, a national reproductive justice organization that centers its work on young people, specifically Black women, people of color, and LGBTQ folks. As Communications Director, Fatimah rebuilt their communications department to lift up the voices of marginalized young people throughout the South and Midwest.

Fatimah currently chairs the board at Ibis Reproductive Health, a global organization that drives change through research and principled partnerships that advance sexual and reproductive autonomy and choices. She also serves on the board of Physicians for Reproductive Health, a nonprofit organization that mobilizes and amplifies the voices of medical providers to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.

In her earlier career, Fatimah worked in marketing, public relations, and communications at Hawaii Pacific University, the Army National Guard, and a state department of public safety. She holds a master’s degree in organizational development and change and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing, both from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu.

When she’s not pouring herself into her work, Fatimah loves to travel and dedicates countless hours to supporting her two adult sons while loving on her cat, Gus, and miniature dachshund, Dutch.
