Walt Klausmeier’s (he/him) dedication to reproductive health has spanned over 40 years of hands-on policy implementation and leadership including most recently his position as President & CEO of Planned Parenthood Health Systems (PPHS), responsible for operational and fiscal oversight of a four-state regional affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, he led the development of affiliate policies and strategic planning for 15 health centers with an annual budget of $15 million. Walt’s experience and drive increased their service area from 300,000 people to over 13 million and conversely increased patients served from 3,500 to over 40,000. Additionally, his work has included planning, development and implementation of disciplinary and interdisciplinary continuing education programs for physicians, nurses, social workers and allied health care professionals. As Program Director for International Training during his time at Planned Parenthood Association of Maryland, his work involved developing and managing study tours for foreign health professionals to observe public health programs in the U.S. Walt has also served honorably in the U.S. Navy and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Letter of Accommodation for Outstanding Service by Commanding Officer upon honorable discharge. Walt enjoys gardening, boating, antique cars, oystering, and playing with his two rescue dogs. He lives with his wife, Linda in Raleigh, but they spend most of their time at their cabin on Old Topsail Creek in southeastern North Carolina.
